Cambrian Academy students continue learning without interruption.
(Parents and students have been kept up to date with inernal communication.)
Students in Grades 5-12 quickly transitioned from sitting in a classroom to sitting in a virtual classroom. The learning continues.
Many families in our community have been sending their students to good academic private schools that did not have a continuity plan in place. Many of those students are sitting at home with nothing to do--some waiting for the arrival of worksheet packets, and others without a clue of what is coming next. The few area schools that were able to make a smooth transition to remote learning will now catch the attention of discerning parents.
Hearing from the Governor that school closures may continue for the rest of the school year, and possibly into summer, has prompted me to reach out to our local community.
We will complete the first ten days of remote learning exclusively with our own current students to ensure that all procedures and routines are being smoothly executed.
After that, I will work on revising the on-boarding procedures we have been using for students who join the program mid-year. We have the capacity to bring on new students, but I want to be sure that we are delivering the expected quality.
We are fully accredited as a secondary school, so middle schoolers who take their Algebra 1 or Geometry with us can receive actual high school credit, rather than having to re-take it or test out of it when entering high school. Some of our middle schoolers are completing Algebra 2 and Precalculus for credit. Because we place students by ability, not by age, this is true for all advanced subjects.
Our Office remains open, having been defined by the Health Department Order as an Essential Business when operating for purposes of facilitating distance learning or performing essential functions. We are not open for in-person visitors who should be sheltering in place, but we do respond to phone calls and email messages.
If you would like to switch your child to a private school where learning goes on interrupted, visit our website, send us an email, or give us a call.
Keep learning, and stay well!
